Statistics service estimates Russia’s GDP fall at 0.2% in 2016
MOSCOW, Feb 1 (PRIME) -- Russia’s gross domestic product (GDP) contracted by 0.2% in 2016, the Federal State Statistics Service said in a statement on Wednesday.
A forecast by the Economic Development Ministry envisaged a 0.6% contraction of the economy.
The service said that agriculture rose by 3.5%, the mining industry by 0.2%, the processing sector by 1.4%, electric power, gas and water production and distribution grew by 2.4%, and financial activities rose 2.3%.
The construction sector decreased 4.3%. Wholesale and retail trade, and car repairs fell 3.6%.
The statistics service also improved its estimate of the GDP decline in 2015 to 2.8% from 3%.
